The next generation of coaches is here and Andrej Maksimov is part of it

Balmoral FC have moved to secure one of Victoria’s brightest young coaching prospects, appointing Andrej Maksimov as the club’s new head coach in State League 3 North-West.
An AFC/OFC A Diploma coach, Maksimov spent four years leading Green Gully’s Under-23s program, culminating in the club’s 2024 NPL Victoria U23 Championship triumph. But beyond silverware, it is his track record in player development that has perhaps drawn the strongest praise.

More than 20 players progressed under his guidance into senior NPL football, A-League academies and even A-League debuts, an impressive reflection of his ability to identify, nurture and elevate young talent.
Maksimov - who was an A-Licensed coach at just 27 - also previously coached within Melbourne City’s academy setup as U15s head coach, further strengthening his credentials as one of the state’s most promising modern coaches.
For Balmoral, the appointment feels less like a short-term move and more like an investment in a football identity and long-term vision in Victoria’s sixth tier.
“In the short time he has already been at the club, we have seen a massive positive shift both on and off the pitch,” a statement read.
“A modern and ambitious coach with elite academy experience and a strong focus on player development, discipline, identity and building a winning culture.
“We are extremely excited for what’s ahead as we continue building something special at Balmoral FC.”
Balmoral are eighth in State League 3 through seven rounds - six points off the pace.
They host Craigieburn City on Saturday.
