Bruno Fornaroli rolls back the years & young gun bags 4 in NPL VIC goal frenzy

NPL Victoria’s heavyweights didn’t hold back in Round 11.
Bruno Fornaroli turned back the clock.
Adem Duratovic kept exploding.
And Melbourne City reminded everyone how dangerous their academy pipeline can be.
Avondale FC delivered one of the statements of the weekend, dismantling Caroline Springs George Cross 5-2 behind a devastating Bruno Fornaroli masterclass.
The former Melbourne Victory striker needed just 37 minutes to complete his hat-trick, taking his tally to eight goals for the season. Kristian Trajceski added two goals of his own as Avondale kept the pressure on the league leaders.
But Oakleigh Cannons still look like the side everyone is chasing.
Chris Taylor’s team brushed aside winless Green Gully 5-0, with former Melbourne Victory youngster Adem Duratovic scoring four goals in another ruthless display.
Duratovic now has eight goals in five games.
And the frightening part for the rest of the league is Oakleigh barely looked stretched doing it.
At Lakeside Stadium, Melbourne City stunned South Melbourne 2-1 to snap a five-game winless run.
Beckham Baker and Lawrence Wong, both already tied to A-League deals, combined brilliantly for the winner as City’s next generation again showed flashes of what’s coming.
Elsewhere, Hume City continued their rise with a 2-1 win over defending champions Heidelberg United at Nasiol Stadium. Christopher Engelhart and Aaron Calver found the net as Hume moved level on points with the Bergers in fourth.
It was a statement of intent.
Preston Lions edged Dandenong Thunder 1-0 away from home, while former Newcastle Jets defender Garang Arou proved the difference in Altona Magic’s narrow win over Dandenong City.
Joseph Monek also starred in St Albans Dinamo’s 4-2 victory over Bentleigh Greens, producing a brace that included a wonderful solo effort.
Big names delivering.
Young talent emerging.
And a title race that still feels wide open.
