Oakleigh Cannons keep finding ways to win.

Round 14 in NPL VIC delivered another huge weekend at both ends of the table — and the league leaders once again handled the pressure.

Oakleigh edged rivals Preston Lions 1-0 away from home thanks to Lebib Lebib’s second-half strike, keeping the Cannons one point clear at the summit as the title race tightens.

Hume City aren’t going anywhere either.

A 3-1 win over Altona Magic kept them firmly on Oakleigh’s heels, with Adisu Bayew continuing his breakout season. The in-form forward bagged his 10th goal of the campaign to move level atop the Golden Boot charts.

Defending champions Heidelberg United stayed third after grinding out a 1-0 win over bottom side Green Gully, who remain without a win in 2026.

Down the other end, Dandenong City claimed major survival points in the Croatian derby, defeating St Albans Dinamo 2-1 behind a Timothy Atherinos brace. City are now just one point from safety.

Melbourne City’s rise continued too.

Roland Ballah’s quick-fire double inspired a 2-0 win over Dandenong Thunder as City stretched their winning streak to four matches and climbed into fourth place.

Meanwhile, Bentleigh Greens and Caroline Springs George Cross couldn’t be separated in a tense 0-0 draw.

On Monday night, fourth-placed Avondale FC eased past a youthful South Melbourne 4-0 at Lakeside Stadium.
