A new coach, the same ambition: Adam Piddick takes on Hume City’s next challenge

Hume City have appointed experienced NPL coach Adam Piddick as their new head coach following Nick Hegarty’s move to Brisbane Roar.

Piddick arrives at Broadmeadows with extensive experience across the Victorian game, having previously coached Port Melbourne for six seasons as well as Dandenong Thunder and Bentleigh Greens.

Before moving to Victoria, he also enjoyed success in Queensland, guiding Moreton Bay United to an NPL Queensland Championship.

Rather than overseeing a rebuild, Piddick inherits an established Hume squad and has made clear his ambition is to build on what is already in place.

“I think it’s a big opportunity and an exciting challenge,” Piddick said.

“Normally, when you come into a new club, you’re in an organisation that hasn’t been performing well, but this is an unusual situation where I’m coming into a club that has performed at its best. The group we’ve currently got is at a good level, and I’m looking forward to trying to take them to the next level.

“My style is to be proactive and aggressive, both with and without the ball. I want to take the game on and be attack-minded, and hopefully we’ll see that come through in our football, not just with the senior team but throughout the whole football club.

“Hume City FC has a rich history and has been in the league for a long time – they have a good fan base and a strong community so I am excited to be involved.

“Ultimately, we want to play good football, be very competitive, be hard to beat and hopefully win some titles in the near future.

“I can’t wait to get back and get on the training park. The facilities are fantastic, so there are no excuses not to prepare properly for next year. I’m really looking forward to it.”

“Adam boasts a solid coaching record across the National Premier League system and has spent many years at some of the competition’s most respected clubs. I have no doubt that experience will help continue the progress we have made in the past 12 months.
