What did we see in NPL Victoria on Saturday afternoon? Avondale FC delivered one of the most emphatic performances of the season after dismantling 10-man Dandenong Thunder 11-0 to strengthen their position in the title race.
Bruno Fornaroli scored four goals to extend his Golden Boot lead, while George Ott celebrated a hat-trick as the league heavyweights ran riot, turning a comfortable half-time lead into a historic-looking scoreline on Saturday.
The result was effectively settled before the break.
Avondale led 3-0 at half-time and were aided by a red card shown to Jakeb Wiseman in the 25th minute, leaving the visitors with a mountain to climb against one of the competition's most potent attacks.

Any hopes of limiting the damage disappeared after the interval.
Avondale added eight goals in a devastating second-half display, overwhelming a relegation-threatened Thunder side unable to stem the flow of chances.
Fornaroli continued his remarkable campaign by taking his tally to 17 league goals, strengthening his grip on the Golden Boot race with another clinical hat-trick.
It was the former Socceroo’s third hat-trick of the season and his seventh goal in three games.
Ott matched the A-League great’s output, while Avondale's relentless attacking pressure ensured the scoring never slowed.
For a club with championship ambitions, it was the type of performance that sends a message to the rest of the competition.
Every team expects Avondale to win, but very few expect them to win like this.
While the victory was worth the same three points as any other, it will live long in the memory. Scorelines of this magnitude are rare in Victorian top-flight football.
Avondale are three points off the pace through 17 rounds and have scored a league-high 50 goals.
The Thunder are second from bottom and without a win in seven games.
Elsewhere, league leaders Oakleigh Cannons maintained their grip on top spot with a 3-1 victory over Melbourne City.
Lebib Lebib was once again among the goals, continuing a remarkable debut season in Victoria. The former Olympic Kingsway attacker now has eight goals for the campaign, including five in his last five matches across all competitions and four in his last four NPL Victoria appearances.

His recent form has already been recognised with April's Player of the Month award and May's Rising Star honour.
Hume City produced a stirring comeback to defeat bottom side Green Gully 3-2 after trailing by two goals, while Preston Lions claimed local bragging rights against Heidelberg United.
Luke Francis was the hero for Preston, scoring a dramatic 90th-minute winner to secure a 1-0 victory over the reigning champions.
Caroline Springs George Cross climbed into fifth position with a 3-2 win over Dandenong City. Leo Mazis proved the difference, scoring twice in the space of 10 minutes.
Nicolas Koek scored two goals in 16 minutes, meanwhile, to lead St Albans Dinamo past Altona Magic 2-1.
On Friday night, South Melbourne delivered one of the performances of the round, putting rivals Bentleigh Greens to the sword in a commanding 5-1 victory.
