NPL VIC giants South Melbourne have added genuine international experience to their attacking ranks, signing Korean-born forward David Yoo for the remainder of the 2026 season.
The dynamic attacker arrives from fellow Oceania Professional League side South Island United, bringing with him a football journey that has already taken him across New Zealand, Portugal and the world stage.
Yoo featured for Auckland City at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, starting against European giants Bayern Munich and Benfica, as well as Argentine powerhouse Boca Juniors.

He was also part of the Auckland side that earned a memorable draw against Boca, one of the standout results in the club's history.
For South Melbourne supporters, however, Yoo is not an unfamiliar face.
The pacey attacker found the back of the net against Hellas during this year's Oceania Professional League campaign, offering a glimpse of the qualities that have now convinced the club to bring him to Lakeside Stadium.
“We know David's qualities well, having seen them first hand this season," Senior Football Director Peter Kokotis said.
"He's a quick, exciting attacking player who can create and score from anywhere on the pitch. We're delighted to bring him to South Melbourne and believe he'll be a valuable addition for the challenges ahead."

After developing in New Zealand and spending four years in Portugal, Yoo arrives with valuable experience and versatility across the front third.
His signing provides South Melbourne with another attacking option as the club prepares for a crucial period across multiple fronts, including the NPL Victoria title race, the Australia Cup and the Australian Championship.
South Melbourne are sixth in NPL VIC through 17 games, 12 points off the pace.
