Lions FC’s extraordinary 2026 season could yet become something rarely seen in Queensland football after booking their trip to the NPL QLD Grand Final.

The NPL QLD Premiers powered into the Grand Final with a statement 4-1 victory over rivals Peninsula Power, moving within one win of completing a remarkable state quadruple.

Luke Broderick continued his red-hot form on the biggest stage, while Blair Ponting, Jackson Hart-Phillips and Jerson Lagos also found the net as Lions swept aside one of their major rivals.

It is another chapter in a season already overflowing with silverware.

Lions have lifted the Kappa Pro Series, NPL QLD Premiership and Kappa Queensland Cup. Victory in the Grand Final would add the Championship and complete the state quadruple, and their ambitions stretch beyond Queensland.

Lions are also preparing for an Australia Cup semi-final against South Melbourne, meaning an extraordinary five trophies remain possible in Dan Barber’s first season as senior head coach.

Peninsula’s Championship hopes remain alive despite the defeat. Power will now face Moreton City Excelsior in the Preliminary Final for the right to return to the Grand Final and earn another shot at Lions.

Moreton booked their place with a 2-0 extra-time victory over Gold Coast Knights, inspired by substitute D’Arcy Satharasinghe.

Introduced from the bench, Satharasinghe struck twice in extra time to end the Knights’ season and keep Moreton’s Championship hopes alive.
