Six straight. Maitland FC just keep finding a way

Maitland FC's remarkable mid-season surge continued in Round 19, with the Magpies grinding out a 1-0 win over Lambton Jaffas to record a sixth consecutive victory and climb into the NPL NNSW top three.

In one of only two fixtures completed before wet weather wreaked havoc across the competition, Braedyn Crowley's first-half strike proved the difference as Maitland handed Lambton a damaging defeat in its pursuit of the finals.

The result extends Maitland's outstanding run of form and lifts Adam Hughes' side above Belmont Swansea United into third place, while the Jaffas' finals hopes continue to fade after another narrow defeat.

Weston Bears also carried strong momentum into the final month of the season, dismantling Kahibah FC 5-2 behind a clinical first-half hat-trick from Chris Hatfield.

Hatfield struck three times before the break as the Bears raced into a commanding lead, with Luke McCormick and Brock Beveridge also finding the scoresheet in an impressive attacking display.

Daniel Byrne scored twice for Kahibah, including a spectacular bicycle kick that capped the scoring, but it was little consolation as Weston strengthened its position inside the top four.

Elsewhere, persistent wet weather forced the postponement of the remaining four Round 19 fixtures, with Adamstown Rosebud's clash against Valentine, Cooks Hill United versus Broadmeadow Magic, Newcastle Olympic against Belmont Swansea United, and Charlestown Azzurri's meeting with Edgeworth Eagles all rescheduled.
