Belmont Swansea broke a 40-year barrier in 2026 - they’re backing Mick Stafford to go again

Mick Stafford will remain at Belmont Swansea United in 2027 after guiding the club to their first NPL finals appearance in more than 40 years.

Belmont Swansea have renewed the head coach’s deal following a breakthrough 2026 campaign which continued the club’s rise in Northern NSW football.

Stafford oversaw a side that established itself among the leading teams in NPL NNSW and ultimately secured a place in the finals, ending a wait stretching back more than four decades.

The campaign also featured several standout individual performances, with Belmont Swansea emerging as one of the competition’s most entertaining sides and Marco Gueli enjoying an impressive season before subsequently earning a move to NPL VIC giants Preston Lions.

Stafford has played a central role in the progression of both the senior squad and the wider football program, with the club moving quickly to retain him for another season.

After breaking new ground in 2026, Belmont Swansea will now head into 2027 with the coach who delivered their long-awaited return to finals football still at the helm.
