An offside flag, a five-game streak and an eight-point lead: Broadmeadow tighten their grip

Broadmeadow Magic tightened their grip on the NPL NNSW Premiership race after surviving a late scare to defeat Newcastle Olympic 2-1.

Olympic stunned the defending champions with a first-minute opener through Jye Rodway, but Broadmeadow hit back before half-time as Ben Diamond and Jakob Cresnar turned the contest around.

The visitors thought they had rescued a stoppage-time equaliser, only for Jesse Fitzgerald's effort to be ruled out for offside.

Broadmeadow are eight points clear atop the summit.

Maitland continued to build momentum with a fifth straight victory, overcoming Adamstown Rosebud 3-1. Semi Wara opened the scoring before Braedyn Crowley restored the lead from the penalty spot after Jack Brown had equalised, with Regan Lundy sealing the result late.

Cooks Hill United strengthened their push for a maiden finals appearance after cruising to a 4-0 win over Charlestown Azzurri, who slipped to a fourth consecutive defeat.

Weston Bears edged Lambton Jaffas 3-2 in another thriller. Chris Hatfield starred, while substitute Blake Archbold converted an 87th-minute penalty to snatch all three points after Jimmy Oates had levelled for the visitors.

Valentine FC also prevailed in a five-goal contest, defeating Kahibah 3-2 after Max Middleby inspired the hosts with two assists before scoring directly from a corner. The victory moved Valentine five points clear of the relegation zone.

Edgeworth Eagles' clash with Belmont Swansea United was postponed due to wet weather.
