A familiar face returns with a big task: Restoring fallen giants' place among NPL NSW's elite

Sydney Olympic have turned to former coach Pat Marando to lead their rebuild following relegation from NPL New South Wales in 2026.
Marando returns for a second spell at the historic former National Soccer League club, tasked with restoring their competitive standing after a difficult campaign that ended with Olympic losing their place in the state's top flight.

Football NSW recently granted the club a provisional licence for 2027 following a compliance review, imposing financial penalties and points deductions across several competitions while warning that further breaches could jeopardise their eligibility for 2028.
Against that backdrop, Olympic have entrusted Marando with overseeing a new chapter, drawing on more than 30 years of experience across youth, senior and elite football.
His immediate focus will be rebuilding the playing squad through targeted recruitment, establishing unity within the group and developing a competitive identity built around attacking, possession-based football.
Marando is also determined to instil high standards, discipline and a strong work ethic as Olympic look to recover from relegation and begin their journey back towards NPL NSW.
Having previously coached the club, Marando understands the expectations associated with one of Australian football's most historic names, whose traditions and passionate supporter base remain central to their identity.
