Two goals down and staring at elimination. Then Tigers FC came alive

Tigers FC produced a stirring second-half comeback to keep their NPL Capital Football Championship hopes alive, overturning a two-goal deficit to defeat Canberra Juventus 4-2.

Juventus threatened a major finals upset when defender Kalani Harris scored twice from set-pieces inside the opening half, leaving Tigers with a mountain to climb after the break.

The response was emphatic. David Owusu pulled one back five minutes after the restart before Canadian attacker Spencer Barber levelled six minutes later.

Barber struck again in the 70th minute to complete the turnaround, before reigning Golden Boot winner Aidan Milicevic added a stunning stoppage-time free-kick to put the result beyond doubt.

The victory sends Tigers through to a semi-final showdown with Monaro Panthers, who finished second during the regular season.

Queanbeyan City also kept their campaign alive with a clinical 2-0 victory over Tuggeranong United.

Michael Adams needed just four minutes to put Queanbeyan ahead, combining with Sam Aba before finishing past Callum Cook. Kristian Tokic doubled the advantage shortly after half-time, powering home a header from Kelzang Jigme’s delivery.

Queanbeyan will now face Premiers Canberra Croatia for a place in the Grand Final.
