Monaro Panthers have become the hottest team in NPL Capital Football.
Five consecutive victories, 20 goals scored and now, just one point separates them from top spot.
The Panthers continued their remarkable surge with a 2-0 victory over fellow title contenders Tigers FC, leapfrogging their rivals into second place and piling the pressure on league leaders Canberra Croatia.
Max Mellick and Daniel Barac found the net as Monaro extended their blistering run of form, transforming the Premiership race after sitting well off the pace just weeks ago.
The weekend became even sweeter when Canberra Croatia suffered a surprise 2-1 defeat to Tuggeranong United.
Anthony Antoniak's second-half winner handed Tuggeranong a memorable victory and ensured Croatia's lead at the summit was cut to a single point heading into the run home.
Elsewhere, O'Connor Knights claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Canberra Olympic.
Canberra Juventus also strengthened their own campaign with a composed 2-0 win against Brindabella Blues, courtesy of goals from Luca Macor and Cristian Barresi.
Queanbeyan City rounded out the weekend by edging Canberra White Eagles 2-1, with Sam Aba's 80th-minute strike proving the difference.
