South Melbourne's recruitment drive has continued with the signing of former Brisbane Roar defender Hassan Ramazani, further strengthening a squad already transformed during the NPL VIC’s mid-season transfer window.

Ramazani arrives from Vanuatu United after an outstanding OFC Pro League campaign, where he earned selection in the competition's Team of the Season.

Comfortable anywhere across the back four, the versatile defender caught South Melbourne's eye during the club's own run through the inaugural Pro League.

Senior Football Director Peter Kokotis said: "Hassan is someone who really impressed us every time we came up against him in the OFC Professional League.

"He is a tough defender, comfortable on the ball and has the versatility to play across the back four, which makes him a valuable addition to our squad.

"His Team of the Season selection speaks for itself."

Ramazani is the latest addition to an extraordinary recruitment drive at Lakeside.

In recent days, South Melbourne have also secured reigning NPL VIC Golden Boot winner Bul Juach, multiple A-League champion Paulo Retre, attacking talent David Yoo, Newcastle Jets youngster Richard Nkomo, former Melbourne City and South Melbourne junior Sam Fawcett, while Andre Skapoulas has been promoted to the senior squad.

The reshuffle has also seen Nahuel Bonada join NPL VIC rivals Preston Lions on loan, Ilia Shalamanov-Trenkova move to Altona Magic, Ethan O'Sullivan return to Perth, while Thierry Papadimitriou, Lucas Inglese, Jack Pope, Luka Coveny, Charlie Leech, Ishveer Singh, Campbell Dovison, Che Gorr-Burchmore, Luca Durso, Thomas Killick, Gerry Angelatos and Angus Angelatos have departed in pursuit of regular football.

Taken together, the moves underline South Melbourne's intent.

With the NPL Victoria title race, Australia Cup and Australian Championship still to come, and next year's OFC Pro League already on the horizon, Hellas are building a squad designed to compete for trophies on every front.

South Melbourne are eighth in NPL VIC after 18 rounds, a point adrift of the top six.
